Schoultz, Fritz

Fritz is from Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape and completed his schooling at HTS Daniel Pienaar in 2007. He made one of his friend's guitar knowledge in 2005 and decided to buy one. They taught together and so he entered boeremusiek world.

 

His uncle, Dick Jeffries, is a member of Theo Slabbert's band and his grandmother told them there far in the Noorsveld , one of the band's CDs, given. He sat down with the CD and guitar practice when the idea occurred to him to try the concertina. After about three months, he finally found a Wheatstone concertina and pay for it with his earnings as a part-time DJ for functions and parties.

 

Fritz went to visit during his holidays at Theo Slabbert since March 2007 and they became very good friends. Theo encouraged him and taken to the Koppiesol Boeremusiek weekend in Vereeniging. As guest artist with Theo Slabbert and Noorsvelders was he was just shaking to act for the first time before an audience. After seven nommertjies smoothly played was the applause of the nearly five hundred spectators proof enough that his debut was a success. He knew boeremusiek is his place and he will stay here!

One day Fritz snooping in a secondhand shop and another found a concertina. After Uncle Willie van Wyk had restored to him the concertina was as good as new. He received it back in time so that he the last day of his schooling could appear before the whole school. This tool is also his inspiration for 11 new compositions on Japie Laubscher 's style.

 

Fritz's mother had brought him a banjo from Saudi Arabia. Ralie van den Heever learned three basic busy for him and hence there was no stopping him. She icon Hugo Rotter and Fritz boasts two compositions on the Banjo to his name. He learned to play also began accordion in 2008 and with Theo Slabbert made his first CD.

 

He is currently playing in Cape Town where he is right now studying for a sound engineer at the Cape Audio College. Fritz played at dances and has participated in a competition and won three awards in the traditional emerging division.
